One of the assignments for this week is to come up with five endings to this sentence:
If it weren’t too late, I’d___________.
Did you write them down?
Were they easy to come up with?
How did your answers make you feel?
If you would like, please share some of your answers in the comments below. Here’s the link to this week’s homework, so you can think about what you still need to do.
If it weren’t too late, I’d learn to kayak
If it weren’t too late, I’d do a writer’s retreat, especially the one with Christina Baldwin
If it weren’t too late, I’d learn to play an instrument (tin whistle, drums, bagpipes, marimba and harp)
If it weren’t too late, I’d go backpacking for a week
If it weren’t too late, I’d go snowshoeing
Hhmm… I think I need to spend more time outside.

If it weren’t too late, I’d finish my Ph.D.
If it weren’t too late, I’d travel back to Australia (I lived there for a year a long time ago)
If it weren’t too late, I’d take a train through the Canadian Rockies
If it weren’t too late, I’d learn to snowski
If it weren’t too late, I’d grow my hair long and wear it in a long braid down my back
These were very easy to come up with, and some of them may still come to pass one day.

I was going to grow my hair too and got it most of the way there before I retired. It was way too hard to take care of – it still had to be washed frequently, it was extremely frizzy, and way too many hair products were necessary to make it presentable. I cut it short again and that works for me.

My hair these days are so dry the ends get frizzy too. I still keep my hair just below the shoulders.

My hair is so straight and fine-textured and takes so long to grow, that I don’t think I’ll ever let it grow long again. I haven’t worn it long since I was 16 years old.

I’m with you on the baby-fine straight hair. My hair is to the length where it starts breaking, so it’s about time to get it cut again.

My hairdresser just became an airline attendant at the age of 56. When she’s off for a few days she comes back here to the salon and cuts hair. She posts notices on Facebook as to when she’ll be back and we make appointments through Facebook. So funny!

Chris and I decided we would take the train with you through Canadian Rockies. I have grown my hair that long. It’s not fun. I decided to cut it off and got it cut so it could make wigs for kid with cancer. That made it all worthwhile.

Sounds good. I enjoy traveling by train. Good for you for donating your hair! I know I really don’t have the patience to grow mine that long again.

I doubt if I ever will again. 😀

Mine revolved around things that physically don’t work for me anymore – walking the Appalachian Trail, going to Europe (I HATE flying these days), biking RAGBRAI (bike ride across Iowa).
But that’s okay. I’m in a different season of life. There are other things that it isn’t too late to do and I need to stay alert for them.

Mine list was basically from when I was healthy before Lymes hit me. So no doubt on the physical ones, not likely they will ever happen either.

Let me test my memory – without going to get my notebook from the other room (I’m lazy this morning :o)…If it weren’t too late, I’d get an advanced degree…If it weren’t too late, I’d learn to paint…If it weren’t too late, I’d save up and build my dream home…ummmm…what were the other two??? Oh! one other was to learn creative writing…which I know really isn’t too late – it just would take a whole lot of my time, which is currently being used up with lots of other things. Clearly not a priority I guess……OK, had to go to the other room and peek at my notebook! The last one was If it weren’t too late I’d get my teeth straightened. That one too is really not too late, but they’re only slightly crooked and at my age I’m not sure I want to invest in “the perfect smile”. So many other things to invest in! Lesson learned: it’s really not too late for most things!!!

Thanks so much for sharing with us. I had braces as an adult (mid twenties). They were a pain in the you know what. Actually, there is a lot of physical pain involved tool Although that was something you just got used to. Me getting braces was for dental reasons.

Sorry I’m late! My infant grandson lives with me and I spent the weekend doing baby things – I absolutely adore being a nana and don’t want to miss a moment!
My list is similar to many of yours…travel etc. But something I’ve been chewing on…I wrote “write a book” which has been on my list forever but now I’m second guessing myself. Why do I want to write a book? I fear it is for the affirmation that I have arrived or that I am a real writer. And really, what if I just want to write for fun? The external affirmation component is a terribly slippery slope for me. Anywho, no easy answers but something on my mind.

I hope you write your book one day Donna. Even if it is for just yourself. Thanks!

I know about the “write a book” thing. I’ve been feeling the same way for years. Cee has been on me to get going on it, even though I don’t know what it will be about. She’s telling me to just start making notes every day. I’m going with that and seeing where it’s leading me.
You can always do NaNoWriMo in November. I did it one year and it was a blast.

If it weren’t too late I’d
……..learn to paint (which I know I can still do)
……..learn to surf ( not sure I’d tackle this due to injury risk but I can learn to paddle out)
……..become a concert level pianist ( I take lessons so I think that’s something)
……..learn to write music (I am trying to improve my music theory so this one is still a possibility)
……..become a personal trainer or body builder (or something in the area of fitness and nutrition)
