Did you try your morning pages this morning? Or last evening? Hopefully they didn’t take too long. 15 to 30 minutes, maybe?

It’s been a while since I’ve written three pages…I’ve gotten complacent and 1 page normally sufficed…but I persevered and got through it. Also, I’ve gotta do it BEFORE all the other people wake up…they’re quite distracting 😂

Three pages did seem like a lot at first, but now I’m getting used to it and sometimes go over. 😀 It is much easier without distraction.

I’m going to have to do my pages in early afternoon, because I keep waking up with migraines. Mornings are also the worst time of day for my fibromyalgia! 🤪 Incidentally, I finally posted my into back on the intro post 🙂

I’m not a morning person. So I do mine mid-morning. Our house is fairly quiet. I did try writing in the even for a few days, but I found myself being distracted and too tired to enjoy writing. Fibromyalgia is nasty, so be gentle with yourself.

I have fibromyalgia as well, so I sympathize!

I managed one page 🤔. I am not a writer – more of a list maker. Maybe I’ll try the list technique to see if I can do more

A list might work. They are bullet points. So tomorrow go for 1 page and one line maybe two. 😀

I love lists, so I think you’re on to something. I think I’d try making lists but also adding noted to items if there is something that is really pushing to get out of your head. Not to all of them, just the ones who have more to say to you. I think you’re doing a good job of keeping the intent of MPs and making them work for you. Let us know how it goes.

I did my pages in the evening and had no trouble filling 3 pages. My main challenge is writing by hand. I have arthritis in my hands, and the fingers on my right hand are so crooked now that they look as if they have been broken. Unfortunately, that affects the way I grip (or don’t grip) a pen and can cause a fair amount of pain. But I managed to do it. There definitely is great merit in writing by hand, and my thought process is much more deliberate when I do.

I don’t have arthritis, just the worst penmanship ever. It’s the only class I didn’t pass in grade school. I have a tendency to combine letters, like my own personal shorthand. I used to stop, erase and fix things, but that takes up too much time and ruins the thought process.
I agree that there is merit in writing by hand, but I also hate to think of you in pain. Please do what you need to do to make yourself comfortable. Maybe try a list approach like Nora? Or a combination thereof? Long entries when you need to work through something and short bullet points when you just want to do a quick capture?

Thank you, Chris. Last night I was able to do my evening pages without as much discomfort in my hand. If I deliberately write slowly, it’s better. I’ll take you up on your suggestion!

I’ve been doing it in my bullet journal. Some of it’s bullet points, some are not. And it’s not all garbage either. It was rather fun today to reread what I’ve done so far. Actually, it was better than I expected.

I’m not surprised, it is better than you think.
