Introducing Chris

I’m Chris. I realized that I needed to introduce myself, too. I’m the older (and wiser) half of Cee-Chris. We’re been together for 30 years, as life partners and now business partners. We share aligned spiritual beliefs, but are opposite in every other way. The Universe brought us together (I’ll tell you that story sometime) and it was the perfect match up.

We live with our two cats (Charlie and Freddie) and two pugs (Digi and Maddie) in a small rural town (Canby) about an hour’s drive south of Portland, Oregon. We are country girls, for sure, but it’s nice having a city nearby when we need it, although we try to avoid it as much as possible. We’re about 1 1/2 hours away from the Pacific Ocean. We love living in the Pacific Northwest.

I’m at retirement age but am keeping my corporate job a little longer. Cee’s illness is the biggest story of our lives. When she almost died in 2001, that changed everything. The medical bills drove us into foreclosure and bankruptcy. It wiped out my retirement savings. It ruled our lives for an incredibly long time. We’re only now really coming back to life. It’s one of the reasons why I’m looking forward to sharing this class with all of you. There is life after loss and grief, and life can be, and should be good again. Mine certainly is. I want to spend my retirement years making an even bigger difference than I already have. I want these remaining years, however many there are, to be times where I uplift and inspire people.

An old joke applies here. A man falls into a deep hole and can’t get out. A doctor passes by and the man cries out for help. The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down into the hole and moves on. A priest passes by and the man again cries out for help. The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on. His friend, Joe, comes up. “Hey, Joe, it’s me. I’m in this hole and can’t get out. Get some help.” Joe jumps down in the hole with him. “Are you crazy? Now we’re both stuck down here” Joe calmly says. “I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.”

That’s me. I know the way out. And I want to show it to others.

I believe that the purpose of life is joy. I’m living that. I want more of it, thank you very much. And I want to spread it around.

See you in class!
